I have previously posted about my fascination with abandoned places. I really can’t put it into words, but there is something about a bygone era or a place that was once great falling into ruins that really piques my interest and makes me daydream about its history and what events led to it being deserted. I recently stumbled upon the motherlode…the website of Kevin Bauman, who “began photographing abandonment in Detroit in the mid 90’s as a creative outlet.” The project showcases 100 abandoned homes in the Detroit area; however, there are actually about 12,000 homes currently abandoned in the city. Some of these houses look as though they were goergeous homes at one time. So erie! So sad! Poor Detroit!
